Viktória Herencsár

The cimbalom virtuoso, soloist in the Hungarian Opera and Broadcasting Company, Viktória Herencsár was born in Budapest and began studying the cimbalom (hammered dulcimer) at the age of three and half. A pupil of Ida Tarjáni Tóth, she graduated with honours from the Ferenc Liszt National Conservatory of Music in Budapest in 1974. This fervent ambassador of the Hungarian hammered dulcimer appears in concerts of classical, and popular music throughout the world, both as a soloist and with large symphony and chamber orchestras (Berliner Symphonies, Hessischer Rundfunk, Spain National Symphony, Barcelona Symphony, Dresdner Philharmonics, Radio-Symphony of Stockholm, Kempens Symphony, Würtzburger Philharmonic, Philharmonic of Stuttgart, RAI Symphony, Singaporean Chinese Orchestra, etc.) In addition, she gives lectures on the history, the repertory and the teaching of the cimbalom, and was appointed president of the first Cimbalom World Congress of the hammered dulcimer (Hungary, 1991.). She took part also as a soloist of Hungary in the many Folk-festivals over the world. She was invited in the jury of many festivals and competitions.
She was the cimbalom professor in the „Szent István király” Music school and Conservatory of Music in Budapest (Hungary) from 1993 till 1997. She is the professor (lecturer) at the Music Department of the Academy of Culture in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia) from 1997, and the guest professor at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing (China) from 2005. She teaches cimbalom by the different International Music Camps (Balassagyarmat / Hungary – from 1994, Abaújszántó/Hungary – in 2005 etc.). She is the president of the Cimbalom World Association from 1991. More television and broadcasting companies made with her recording. Many composers dedicated compositions to her. In 2004 she graduated as culture and adult education manager at the Faculty of Adult education and Human resources Development of the University of Pécs.
She got Art Doctor (ArtD) degree in 2011 and docent (Doc.) degree in 2012 by the Academy of Art in Banska Bystrica.

Born 1983 in Linz, Franziska Fleischanderl began her dulcimer studies at the age of 8, and by the age of 14 she started her instrumental studies at the Anton-BrucknerPrivatuniversität (AT) with Karl-Heinz Schickhaus. Later she studied at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich (D) with Birgit
Stolzenburg, at the Hochschule für Musik Basel (CH) with Mike Svoboda, and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Hopkinson Smith and Rudi Lutz. She is an interpreter for contemporary music, improvisation, performance, songwriting, music education and early music. At the moment she focuses on the initiation, interpretation and publication of contemporary music for dulcimer in varied
forms (solo, chamber music, orchestra, etc.). Free improvisation, the advancement of modern playing techniques for dulcimer, including preparation of the strings and usage of electronic devices, are a direct result of her fascination by sounds and plays
a major role in the work of Franziska Fleischanderl, She has collaborated and premiered works from artists such as: Dieter Schnebel, Hans Stadlmair, Erin Gee, Renald Deppe, Johannes Berauer, Katharina Klement, Irene Kepl,
Judith Unterpertinger, Jan Truhlar, Rudolf Jungwirth, Bertl Mütter, Balduin Sulzer and Matthias Schinagl a.o.
Fleischanderl also focus’ in early music and the great repertoire, originally written for the salterio from the 18th century, and by reperforming these unknown cantatas, sonatas, concertos and solo pieces she wants to revive the concert music for dulcimer in both styles, early and new music.

Franziska Fleischanderl performed already in many festivals and venues, like
„Styiarte“, „Wiener Festwochen“, Jeunesse Wien, Brucknerhaus Linz, Xong-Festival,
Posthof Linz,  Wiesbadener Bachwochen, Loisachtaler Musiksommer, Phönix Theater
Linz,  Landestheater Linz, „theater@work“, Kabinetttheater Wien and Theater in der
Drachengasse, Wien. She enjoys travelling with her music all over Austria, to
Germany, Italy, Hungary, Mexico and Switzerland.

She was invited to several Cd- and radio productions (BR, ORF) and won different
scholarships for her work, like „STARTStipendium”(2011) by the Austrian Ministry of
Culture, “Klangfluss”(2012/13) by the department for culture of Upper Austria, and the
„Bundesstipendium”(2012/13) for Arts and Research by the Swiss Government. At the

moment she lives in Basel.
